About  Us

Our history

In January of 2000, brothers Adam and Rusty Lane started buying and selling used equipment under the name of Georgia Equipment Company, Inc. They were looking for a location to expand Georgia Equipment Company’s exposure as a buyer and seller.

In March of 2000, they bought out Dye Farm Equipment in Swainsboro, GA.  Adam brought with him an established trailer dealer network of more than 7 years of work and more than 20 dealers. Rusty was employed by Terry and Sons, Inc., a tractor dealership owned by their father, Mr. Terry Lane, located in Sylvania, GA.  Rusty brought with him his knowledge and experience of retail sales, parts and service. Business was a success at Georgia Equipment Company, they took on 2 new tractor lines along with the implement sales. Having an eye for business they both saw success and a future in the auction industry.

In June of 2000, Rusty attended Southeastern School of Auctioneering to begin courses to become an auctioneer. In August he passed the state auctioneers exam. This is when Lane Brothers Auctions was formed . One year later, Adam, obtained his auctioneer license. The auction business began to grow and showed great success.

In 2005 Georgia Equipment Company and Lane Brothers Auctions moved to their new permanent and much larger location on Meadowlake Parkway in Swainsboro. A 50 acre parcel of land and built a new 19,000 square foot facility. With more room to accommodate the large crowds and the increasing number of consignments, they were also able to facilitate a drive thru auction.
In 2007 Rusty decided that he was going to go full force into the real estate market and sold his part ownership of both Georgia Equipment Company and Lane Brothers Auctions to Adam. Since then Adam has continued to take the business forward and further the growth including obtaining a Used Car License in 2010, allowing vehicle consignments into the auctions.

As of 2016, and with 16 years of experience, Lane Brothers Auctions has held over 150 auctions with no signs of slowing down. Lane Brothers Auctions conducts auctions including consignments, bankruptcy, bank foreclosures, complete business and farm liquidations and estate farm sales. Auctions are often held on site of businesses and farms. Lane Brothers Auctions, through ProxiBid, offers live online bidding worldwide with every auction, a benefit to both buyers and sellers.
